After Melissa Nolan's sudden departure from the big-budget biograpghical flick, it seems there was no time at all before Tassia Kattan's team announced she would be taking the lead role in Bad Blood. While this is certainly a boon for the film- and at worst a lateral move- rumors started swirling immediately that Kattan had been interested in the script since its original announcement in 2018, thanks to its likelihood for its Oscar contention. That, plus Kattan's notorious feud with Nolan (including a screaming match in a WeHo bar in 2014), have led some bloggers to assume Kattan not only had no problem taking the role, but was actively thrilled to steal the billing from her. Their infamous feud is so longstanding, it is rumored their assistants coordinate events so they'll never have to see each other. In a handful of now-deleted tweets, Kattan took offense to these rumors and strongly denounced them:
"I'm not paying attention to what Melissa Nolan is doing." she stated. "I thought long and hard before taking that role- as I do with all my films- and was thrilled for the opportunity." In another tweet, she continued, "To try to pin women against each other when this business is competitive enough is sickening." Finally, she said, "I hope by the time the film releases, we'll all have forgotten this bullshit occurred. I'd hate for everyone else's hard work to be overshadowed by a fake girlfight." A few hours later, the tweets disappeared.
